Thyroid Medication

Did you know that 60-90% of thyroid dysfunction is caused by autoimmune disorders?  It’s also notable that autoimmune disorders are in many cases treatable.  With dietary changes, supplements, and removing environmental stresses a person can help their thyroid gland to function better.  It’s much better if you can heal your thyroid and not have to rely on thyroid medication.  However, many people are unaware that they have a thyroid condition and some types of thyroid gland damage may be permanent.

Thyroid cancer has become prevalent and can require thyroid gland removal (thyroidectomy).    These situations would require thyroid hormone replacement in order to compensate for what the thyroid gland can no longer do itself.  This short video post is intended to help thyroid patients understand the types of thyroid medications available and that there are options.

Since I don’t have editing down yet, I just want to clarify that the dose with the yellow dye that I reacted to was either 125 or 100 mcg (there is no 120 dose).  Also, the Tirosint medication I mentioned is very expensive.  It can run up to $200 for 30 pills but there are discount pharmacy promotions or coupons (i.e. Willow Pharmacy) which can bring the price down to around $70 for 30 pills.
